1906

The "Kant Chokoladenfabrik AG" is established in Wittenberg. The company produces chocolate and cocoa products; one of the know specialtities is the "Kant Chocolate"

September 1939

The preparations for the second world war begin. Therefore the machines and the installations are mainly moved to Tangermünde and the staff is delegated to the „WASAG-Sprengstoff-AG“ (industry that produced explosives) and the „Arado-Flugzeugwerken“ (aircraft industry).

1945

The company starts again with the production of food under name "Kant". During the first post-war years these are mainly products that are absolutely necessary: artificial honey, oat flakes, coffee substitute and pasta. Only at the end of the forties, the production of sweets is recommenced: bonbons, fudges, jelly products and liquorice.

1950

The foundations for the today´s product range is layed with the takeover of the range of the company "Nadena“-Auerbach. Kant is now producing long-life bakery products and increases the range later on by pudding and butter biscuits.

1953

The company becomes public property of the GDR. From now on, the firm is called „VEB Süßwarenfabrik Nadena Kant“ (VEB = nationally-owned enterprise).

1954

The name "WIKANA" is created. It is composed of WI (Wittenberg)-KA (nt) - NA(dena).

1970

The product range id altered; from the seventies WIKANA produces only long-life bakery products.

1990

The company is now called "Wikana Süß- und Dauerbackwaren GmbH".

1992

The trustee decided the liquidation of the company. The privatization takes place under the name "Wikana Keksfabrik".

17.06.1997

The company trades from now on under the name of "Wikana Keks und Nahrungsmittel GmbH". The production of cookies increased by now to 3500 tonnes a year. Besides, Wikana presents 3 or 4 new development.
